West Cliff at Dusk.
Whitby, North Yorkshire.
Whitby is apparently Britain's second most popular tourist
destination! Famous as Dracula's landing spot in the Mary Shelly novel, Cędmon
(England's first Poet) and the ITV series Heartbeat.
The West Cliff in Whitby is the tourist side of the town, home to many B&B's,
hotels and amusement arcades. From this point above the harbour you can see St.
Mary's Church and Whitby Abbey on the East side with the 199 steps rising up
from Church Street below. Captain Cook's statue stands guard over the town and
just to his left the Whale Bone arch. In the opposite direction, the cliffs at
Sandsend and to the left you can just see the top of the Spa Theatre nestled on
the edge of the cliff.
