The Family Ness was written and created in 1983 by Peter Maddocks, who also created the cartoons Penny Crayon, (voiced by Su Pollard) and Jimbo and the Jetset -  the plane that had been built to the wrong dimensions, and was too small to be a Jumbo Jet - hence the name. The Family Ness was the first of these three instantly recognisable cartoons made for the BBC; The Family Ness appearing in 1983, followed in 1987 by Jimbo, and Penny Crayon in 1989.

If you look hard enough will often find these, and many other classics shown on the CBBC channel. Penny Crayon is on TV frequently, and The Family Ness was also recently repeated. Still no sign of Jimbo though!
